Move Forward and Never Be Still

A Lazy Weekend at AurumOne Makati

A Lazy Weekend at AurumOne Makati

I invited my favorite travel companion Marx and friend Hazel to celebrate with me. I was looking to spend a couple of days with my friends in a nice place in the metro. Hazel and I share the same birthday month while Marx had his just last September. Our last get together was more than two years ago so we were all excited when our calendars cleared up for a long awaited staycation.

I asked them to join me for a two night stay in AurumOne Makati. AurumOne Makati is a clean looking, mini boutique hotel which is situated in the residential area of Brgy. Bangkal, Makati City. It is still conveniently located near enough from Makati’s main business district and Manila’s main attractions and tourist spots.
The Hotel
The hotel’s theme appears to be color white with a soft touch of matte gold. I think that was a great choice as the hotel appeared both elegant and lovely at any time of the day. The reception desk is clutter free, with the staff always ready to assist. Its interiors a complete opposite of where the hotel is located. For sure, guests would want to rest in a quiet place after going through Manila’s busiest streets.

My check-in was hassle free. The kind lady who assisted me was prompt and efficient. After letting me sign the papers, she gave me my key card and gently reminded me of specific hotel rules. I was assigned to stay in a Queen Loft and I really anticipated my stay upon seeing how nice the room where I will be staying was.

Our Room

After collecting my things, I proceeded to the fourth floor and entered my room. I spent some time taking pictures as Marx didn’t join me until a few hours later. While waiting for him, I caught some rest. I was not disappointed when I finally sank in my soft bed and laid my head in the oh-so-soft pillows! If I wasn’t waiting for my good friend, I would’ve fallen asleep as the weather that night was gloomy. It was raining a bit hard due to a recent storm.

I liked the fact that our room had a kitchenette complete with microwave, electric kettle, mini fridge and even a sink. It was my first time to stay in a hotel room with one. We also thought that having a convenience store at the hotel premises to be very advantageous. When we craved for soda, Marx just went down and bought one without the need of going out.

After Marx and I took a couple of selfies, we went to the mall and did some errands. I guess the weather made us go back in the hotel right after. It was also a delight that our room has a tv upstairs and also in the living area. I remember being too lazy to go downstairs to watch tv. Marx and I watched a horror flick in the wee hours of the morning and the pillows definitely helped in suppressing my screams that night.
Haha!

This comfy sofa be turned into a pull-out bed!

But my most favorite part of our room was by the window sill. Though the view was not what I was used to seeing (residential home and low rise buildings), it was the fact that this area can be easily turned into a relaxation spot! Marx had a brilliant idea of throwing in a few pillows, turning this corner into a lovely place to have a snack, steal a nap or catch up on some reading.

Happy Birthday to us! 😀

The hotel offers four types of accommodation namely Aurum Deluxe, Aurum Business, Aurum Loft (where we stayed) and Aurum Premier. Rooms are good for two adults while children below 10 years are free of charge. Rates include free breakfast as well.

The Nook
The hotel offers simple (complimentary) buffet breakfast at The Nook which was located at the eight floor. The place was wet all over as it was raining and I think the hotel was doing some maintenance work in this area. Nevertheless, the guests still came back and forth until they were all full. The Nook offers a nice view of the city skyline. I could’ve captured a better photo if it wasn’t raining that time.

Our stay in
AurumOne Makati was what I had been expecting that weekend to be. A laid back and quiet staycation with friends. The better part of it was that this hotel is actually a pet-friendly property. Now I know where I will be staying the next time I will be bringing my pets with me.
