A Birthday Staycation at KL Tower Serviced Residences

A Birthday Staycation at KL Tower Serviced Residences

With God’s humbling grace, I was finally able to spend my birthday outside our home. Choosing the location was not hard at all as I wanted it to be near where my other relatives live so they can attend the mini party I held that weekend. When I found out about KL Tower Serviced Residences, I knew I have made up my mind.

After finalizing my reservation for an overnight stay, I planned the things my family and I could do for just 24 hours. I thought of seeing a movie late at night since the hotel is near some of Makati’s shopping malls. But with the limited time we have in properly celebrating my thirty plus years of existence, I decided to just spend it at ‘home’ with them.

The Hotel
The moment we stepped into the lobby, we were immediately impressed by the simple opulence that welcomed us. For someone used to budget travel, it actually felt very nice to be staying in an elegant hotel this time.

Our check-in process was swift and easy. The front desk people were all efficient, always smiling. I just filled out a form and in a few moments we were given our room assignment on the 18th floor.

Our Room

Our room was called a One Bedroom Premier. Its name was perfect as the first thing I did upon entering our was room was look out the window. And yep! We were rewarded with a premier view of the city. It also had a balcony. For security purposes, you need to call in your request to gain access to it.

Our room has two bathrooms, one inside the bedroom while the other one was near the kitchen. However, I noticed that there was no shower faucet in the latter. As there was no shower area, we only used this if we need to use the toilet. We had to wait for our turns in using the shower room in the other bathroom.

The room was big while the bed was heavenly. I let my companions sleep in the bedroom so I made the couch (my bed for the night) outside my bed which turned out to be surprisingly comfortable too. There were big cabinets right on the hallway leading to the interior bathroom. The windows let natural light come in, perfect for waking up oversleeping guests (lol).

But the main thing we loved about our room was the kitchen. It has the basic appliances fit for long term staying guests. The kitchen has a regular-sized refrigerator, cooking stove, cooking pot and pan, microwave and toaster.  There was also an electric kettle and complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water. There was a sink for washing dishes and a table complete with utensils good for four individuals.

Our room was suited for an extended number of guests. But even if there are more individuals staying, it would still be big enough for all us as our room was designed to be spacious as our movements were not once felt restricted.

Other Facilities

The hotel’s other amenities are located on the 7th floor. There is a fully equipped gym for the health buff (which my dad absolutely loved). A large pool with a partial view of the city and separate saunas for male and female. There was also a function room on this floor good for company meetings or small gatherings.

I just wished there were dry mats located on the pool side since some children made the area their playground. They were going from the pool straight to the elevators, dripping wet and all. A guest almost slipped upon entering the elevator doors. I couldn’t blame the children as they were just being kids though.

Kitchen 1B

Our room came with complimentary continental breakfast which was served as early as six at the lovely Kitchen 1B Restaurant located at the ground floor, accessible from the hotel lobby. I liked the layout of the restaurant as it didn’t feel crowded. Some produce were even on display, just an easy reach from the kitchen.

I looked around and noticed these signages on the glass wall of the restaurant entrance. It dawned on me that the establishment promotes healthy eating through the use of organic ingredients. I asked around and a kind staff told me that they use 97% organic ingredients but they were sourced from abroad. That was pretty commendable but I hope that the management will consider supporting our local
organic farming industry too.

After checking-out, my mom was already asking me when we can go back to KL Tower Serviced Residences. Well I told her it would not be soon but it definitely will happen as we had a grand time and all felt at home.
