The Kitties of Neko No Niwa Cat Cafe

The Kitties of Neko No Niwa Cat Cafe

My closest friends know that I am a lover of the feline species. I have two cats myself. But I used to have more during my childhood years when I have all the free time in the world to take care of them and play with them. Being an adult now got me busy with all other stuff that comes with maturity but I was still able to keep a pet. While I practice having stray cats as my constant companions, I had one sweet Siamese Cat by the name of Poli who sadly passed away five years ago. 🙁

There wasn’t any plan to visit a Cat Cafe. But the chance presented itself upon seeing that this Cat Cafe was just two doors away from our hostel in Clark Quay. I was looking at the online map when the words cat cafe popped up near the hostel’s name. I asked my friend first if we can go to the cat cafe since she wasn’t really a cat lover like me. But she happily agreed and I guessed she also enjoyed bonding with the cuddly kitties but not as much as I did myself. 😀

We arrived at 11 AM just in time for the cat cafe’s opening. Business was slow and I guessed that was a good time to visit. However, most cats were still in slumber. Thinking of my two cats back home, I knew that this was a lazy hour because it was just after their brunch.

I instantly fell in love as soon as I saw the kitties roaming around in the enclosed space. The cats were all big! They have shiny coats and healthy eyes. We were told by the owner that all were rescued strays. All were adorable though not all wanted to be pet by humans that time. Some were so friendly they would jump to the visitors’ lap and talk to them.

This darling below looked like my pet cat Poli. I was laughing at myself because I was calling her Poli.

The cat cafe is also selling kitty merchandise and all were for a good cause. A part of each sale goes to causes supporting rescued cats.

Before interacting with cats, the staff will give you a brief orientation. Initially, an hour of cat-bonding will cost you SGD 12. An additional half hour will be SGD 5. But if you decide to live with them for the whole day, you have to shell out SGD 32 (think unlimited cat purrs and cute paws!). <3 Pastries and drinks are also being offered. Chasing active cats can get tiring!

Cat Cafe Neko No Niwa is open between 11 AM and 10 PM. But check-out their Facebook page for any changes. I would recommend more than an hour of staying here as one hour flies by so fast when you’re around chasing these lovable felines. <3
