The statue can be seen from miles away. It was collossal. It was grand. It was everything I imagined it to be. Up close, it was way better.

Before we proceeded to Terelj National Park, we dropped by the Chinggis Khan Statue Complex. It was something I was looking forward to since I saw the magnificent statue in a post card. After all, it is my first time in the land of the great founder of the Mongol Empire. I thought that it would be some sort of tribute to the great Mongolian past. Ah. the history lover in me. 🙂
The Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue is actually a part of the Genghis Khan Statue Complex. The statue is symbolically facing his birthplace. It sits atop the visitor center which also houses a museum with exhibitions of Bronze Age and Mongolian Culture. However, we opted to just stay outside as the views were more than enough. It was free too! 😀 Entering the museum would cost you an amount (sorry I was unable to list it down).
Since the center and statue is literally in the middle of vast plains, the wind is naturally cooler and stronger. I guess visiting this sight in the summer or autumn is much better than visiting in the winter months. Mongolia is a cold but a definitely beautiful country. I really love it there.
