What To Do In Your Free Time: Play Online Games

It is no secret that the Philippines has the longest lockdown in the world. Since March 15, 2020, our government has imposed different levels of quarantine due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. More than a year into working from home, I am finding ways to entertain myself in the relative safety of my own home.

Growing up in the 80s, my childhood has actually been very memorable and full of fun. I spent a lot of time playing outdoors but it was also during this time that video games rose to ultimate popularity. I spent my vacations with my techy Uncle Ernie who was a gadget and gizmo expert. He had everything from walkie talkies, Betamax tapes of the latest movies, radios and the best of all, the latest gaming gadgets at that time. Remember the iconic family computer and Atari games? How can I forget? πŸ™‚

Fast forward to the 90s, the Internet was born and then began the online world revolution. I witnessed the Internet from its infancy. Its evolution was amazing. Today, almost every aspect of our lives is connected to the wired world. As I grew into adulthood, I find myself becoming more nostalgic. Having more free time nowadays, going down memory lane has been a joyous journey. I even bought a family computer last year! But the problem with game consoles is that it can break down due to constant use so that’s what happened to mine. It didn’t last long.

When I discovered websites like Plays.org, I was overjoyed. This site is a goldmine for similar classic games like Tetris, Pinball and Tank! Actually, when I first browsed this website, I thought that there were only a handful of games. But there are actually over 100 games (and still counting)! You can find the latest games added here.

I played my top three favorite games and boy was it a joy! πŸ˜€ I was unfamiliar with playing with the online controls at first (I am used to playing with game consoles, hehe) but I got used to it in no time. It was a good thing that there were actual instructions and background for each game. I think that is helpful for first time users of this website.

I had fun playing Pin Ball! πŸ˜€ Look at my score! hahahah!

While I admit that I tend to lean on the classic games, you can actually find other fun and interesting games. For more mature players, Plays.org also have word games and strategy games. Little kids have their own world of games too! They have virtually everything for every type of gamer. Wait. That’s a lot of mention for the word games! If that won’t convince you to try playing yourself, I don’t know what will. Just kidding!

Good thing that there is a part on the homepage where the games are categorized, making it easy for first time visitors to find the games to their liking. There’s also a search field at the bottom left of the screen if you are not sure yet what you are looking for. I hope that they will also add a search box on top of webpage though. But over all, its layout is easy on the eyes and navigable. Spell uncomplicated. It is a great companion if you love playing online games. And best of all? It is free! πŸ˜€
