Top 5 Places to Visit in the Naturally Vibrant Nueva Vizcaya

The province of Nueva Vizcaya doesn’t usually ring a bell for most tourists. Many may just mention it as one of the laid back provinces of Region 2. Or you might subtly remember it during your school days when your Sibika teacher asked you to memorize the provinces of northern Luzon for an upcoming graded oral exam.

But just like in every province here in the Philippines, it has its own gems definitely worth visiting. Here I am presenting to you the top spots you should check out if ever you decide to make Nueva Vizcaya your next weekend getaway. The province offers a combination of natural, historical and cultural sights.

Recently, I have been invited to visit the province in a short but sweet two-day affair. I fell in love definitely. Two days were too short to fully explore the province. But here’s a quick round about of where my friend and I have been.

People’s Museum & Library

This museum is a perfect place to know more about the province. It is located in capital Bayombong across St. Dominic Church.

St. Dominic Church of Bayombong

This red-bricked reconstructed 18th century church is located at the center of Bayombong Capital.

Lintungan Falls

Lintungan Falls is found in Brgy. Runruno, Quezon town. Its strong rushing waters at the height of summer is one of its major draws. Not to mention their litter free surrounding.

Capisaan Caves

Effortlessly breathtaking. No need to say more.

Saint Vincent Ferrer Church

Magnificent and Wild. This National Cultural Treasure is a must visit when in Nueva Vizcaya.

How to Get Here

Several bus liners bound for Cagayan Valley pass through the province (Victory Liner, Five Star, Florida Liner etc.). For private car owners, take the NLEX exiting at Sta. Rita. Nueva Vizcaya is accessible via Cagayan Valley Road (Daang Maharlika) and has an approximate travel time of 6-7 hours. A faster alternative route is from NLEX exiting to SCTEX to TPLEX. Exit at Victoria via Guimba then head on to San Jose City and Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya.

Public Jeepneys and tricycles are also abound in all towns.
