Move Forward and Never Be Still

Where to Stay in Siquijor: Blue Wave Inn

Where to Stay in Siquijor: Blue Wave Inn
I originally planned a solo trip to Siquijor. Last year, I was able to score an uber cheap RT airfare for only 560 pesos. Siquijor has always been in my travel pipeline and I was glad to share my successful booking to a couple of friends.

Well, it turned out they wanted to accompany me on this planned solo getaway. I immediately invited them given that three heads are better than one. Specially when it comes to travel expenses.

Since one became three, we agreed to look for a nice place in Siquijor that could conveniently accommodate us all three. We also wanted a room that comes with free breakfast.

And so we decided to book at Blue Wave Inn given that it met all our strict requirements (lol). Though not considered as one of the more upscale resorts in Siquijor, it was still a nice place to stay in. Their infinity pool was the sure highlight of this property.

My Room

However, due to unforeseen personal reasons, my two friends were unable to come. And so I was stuck with a family room all to myself. For two nights, I tossed and turned comfortably in my bed.

There was no air-conditioning. The fan though was strategically placed at the center of the ceiling so proper ventilation didn’t became an issue. There was no other means of entertainment like radio or TV. It was fine by me since I just need to sleep after exploring the whole day.

My room has its own private bathroom. Towel and a few toiletries like toothpaste, soap, shampoo and a roll of bathroom tissue were provided. There was also a dresser and a small table too. Outside, a bamboo clothes line was provided – perfect for drying of wet clothes.

Resort Grounds

Blue Wave Inn is a beach front property. While the complex is pretty much in greens, the room I stayed was pretty basic. Though the higher category rooms, the ones above the restaurant, would have been nicer I bet.

Pool and Restaurant

The in-house restaurants caters to guests but also accepts walk-in diners. It opens between 7 AM to 8 PM while the last order is taken until 7 PM. However, I find their menu to be limited and their cooking just simple. Nevertheless, the price is just right for guests with more budget but if I could find other cheaper places to eat I would. A rice meal with meat viand is priced between P 200 to P 250.

For me, this inn’s saving grace is its gorgeous infinity pool. It’s lovely specially at night.

Free breakfast!

My stay at Blue Wave Inn was made special because of the attentive and kind staff. If amenities are not a major concern for you, you may consider staying here. But I bet there are other better lodging options in the island. I may consider those next time.
